- MSH Metal Ski Holder x 2
- 153/4 strap with Ratchet x 2
- Strap saver x 2
-
U side channel with ladder.x2
Step 1
Before mounting J hook bracket with MSH look at the following things. Is the planned area of the aluminum bracket mounted as far towards the rear of snowmobile as possible? (To allow as much running board space as possible with ski in rack) Is there anything underneath aluminum J hook bracket that I will drill a hole through? (Cooling vents ect.) Hold J-Hook on desired spot on top of tunnel. Place ski in Metal ski holder so Metal ski holder sits just behind front binding of ski. Put the U – side bracket on ski. Put Ratchet on the strap inside the ladder on U-side bracket and ratchet a couple of clicks. Place U-side bracket on side of tunnel 5 to 6 inches from J-hook or until strap is tight. Check to where the U-side bracket goes on the side of the tunnel and make sure that you will be able to mount it unobstructed. You will need to be able to drill two holes and get behind tunnel to secure bolts. Make sure you answer yes to all of the following before proceeding any further.
Step 2
Place aluminum bracket on top of tunnel in desired location. Using the hole punch, mark 4 spots in the center of holes in J bracket on top of tunnel. Drill 4 holes with a 1/8th drill bit in marked holes on tunnel. Repeat with 3/16ths drill bit in all four holes. Put aluminum bracket above holes. Place stainless steel rivets through J hook and tunnel of snowmobile. Place rivet washer provided underneath tunnel on rivet. Holding washer with one hand and the rivet gun in the other, rivet into place (It is highly recommended to use an air rivet gun because stainless steel rivets are a bitch to do with a hand held rivet gun). One by one rivet each hole.
Step 3
Place ski in Metal ski holder. The front binding should be just behind metal ski holder. The tip of ski should be resting on running boards. Connect the U- side bracket ladder into ratchet that is connected to strap coming off of MSH. Place as far towards the tip of ski as possible until strap is tight. Using the hole punch mark the two holes in U side bracket on side of tunnel. Check behind tunnel were holes are to be drilled. Make sure you will be able to get the bolt through hole and be able to get an 11 mill open end wrench behind tunnel to secure bolt while tightening. If not move to a spot you can. Now drill a 1/8th pilot hole in the two marked spots on tunnel. Then change bits with 9/32nds drill bit and drill two holes in pilot holes. Place square washer inside tunnel. Place the 3 ½” bolt on inside of U-side bracket. Place 3’ bolt in outside hole. Place ladder strap on 3 ½” bolt followed by washer and nut. Tighten snug.
Step 4
Adjust straps so ski and pole fit. Pole goes on the inside between Metal ski holder and seat. End of pole goes on top of ski brake. Repeat on other side.
